The CEO of Apple computer Jobs made a salary of $1 a year, yet receiving gifts like a $90 million dollar jet, was he taxed on that $1, or was he taxed on such executive "gifts" like that?

Someone paid the taxes on the jet. He was taxed on $1.00 of standard income from the job at Apple and if the jet was actually given to him on paper, taxed on the assessed value of the jet as "bonuses and other dispensations" income.
I doubt the jet was ever "his". It does not make business sense to personally own a jet when it can be written off and maintained under the umbrella of a corporation.

Here's the Skinny:
In 2003 Jobs was given 10 million shares of restricted stock with a value listed at $74,750,000. Not a bad gift, I would say, and it must be worth much more than that now. I guess we don't have to worry about Jobs' jet being grounded any time soon.
A less misleading headline may be "Jobs received more than $160 million during the last four years at Apple -- but only one dollar of it in 2004."
