Does anyone know if the 'Da Vinci Code' is fiction or true?

Question #65666. Asked by princejo. (May 13 06 9:45 AM)

The Da Vinci Code is a novel and therefore a work of fiction. While the book's characters and their actions are obviously not real, the artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals depicted in this novel all exist.

This question ends with the number 666 - is that significant? kidding... well, to answer your question, Dan Brown uses many real facts and statistics and real place references, and yes there is a group that believes in the sangrial documents - (bloodline of Jesus) but not serious scholars. I'm sure it'll be a well made movie but sadly many will erroneously view the Catholic Church and Opus Dei in a bad light.

It is pure fiction. While the author claims to base his story on some "facts," they are from dubious sources. Anyway, a fictional story based on a few "real" facts should still be considered pure fiction. Here's a link to an article the the StarTribune the gets into some of the basis for the story:

To those conspiracy theorists out there, sorry to disappoint you. Perhaps there is a conspiracy, this just isn't it.
