What is the name given to a cat of a certain colour pattern which inevitably includes black, white, and ginger, which can only really be given to a female cat due to a genetic pattern?

    Question #65675. Asked by Flynn_17. (May 13 06 4:56 PM)

In the U.S., we do call a cat with this coloring a "calico," but in the U.K., the term is apparently "tortoiseshell and white." Over 90% of such cats are female.

My own and much-lamented Iolanthe, who lived to be 18, was a calico cat:

Well over a century ago a piano keyboard was developed that provided the same "shape" for all triads rather than the white-white-white, white-black-white, black-white-black, black-black-black, black-white-white, and white-black-black major triads of the standard keyboard. (Got that? :P) Who designed it, and what is its other big advantage?
