In the average Pound shop, where everything costs exactly one pound, how many items are actually worth more than one pound?

In terms of quality, very few. Most of the stuff is tat, or hard-to-shift stuff that's come from warehouse clearances, or near-to-date in the case of tinned foods. Stuff that is less than a pound (where you get 2 or 3 for your quid) may well be at normal value price. A lot of it is just junk.
