    What is the difference between Prime Minister and President?

    A president is a government leader in a republic, whereas a prime minister is the leader of the Government in a constitutional monarchy which means that the prime minister is subject to Queen or King.

    Many European countries have both a president and a prime minister. In many republics the president is something of a figurehead, a bit like a monarch in a constitutional monarchy.

    A prime minister is always the head of an administation and nowadays is responsible to the legislature - even if theoretically responsible to the monarch or president.
