Not bad, joey, a yay!
The New York Times Book Review asked 125 writers and critics for their views, and "Beloved" received 15 votes for the number one spot -- more than any other book got, which is an interesting indication of the very differing views. The BR also pointed out that all five of the top-ranked books were written by authors born in the 1930's.

What the bad thing is, I read about 2 books a week and I never read one of those books...

Well, joey, if you're interested, try the Rabbit Angstrom omnibus for a start -- four novels in one, but once you get started, you will probably want to keep reading.

Not a bad thing at all, myjoey; it probably has more to do with not letting popularity contests influence discriminating good sense. Read, read, read.

I agree that is what I tell my daughter one can never read enough books.
