Why is Japan called "Land of the Rising Sun" and Norway "Land of the Midnight Sun"?

Norway is the Land of the Midnight Sun because Norway is so far north that at times there is sunlight in Norway at midnight, the same holds true for Alaska. Jun 01 06, 3:05 PM
