As a Native American singer-songwriter in the 1960s, Buffy Sainte-Marie had a promising career. For her debut album "It's My Way" she was voted Billboard's Best New Artist. She disappeared suddenly from the mainstream American airwaves during the Lyndon Johnson years. She continued to appear at countless grassroots concerts, AIM events and other activist benefits.
