An Agrodolce Prize was established in 1963 in Cesenatico, a resort on the Adriatic riviera, in order to promote tourism. The prize would be awarded to the sweetest (dolce) and sourest (agro) celebrity present in Cesenatico. It only lasted two years, though (1963 and 1964), and was not given to Fo. The prize he and his wife, Franca Rame, were awarded in Campione d'Italia in 1988 might have been a sort of revamp of the original Cesenatico prize. I found a couple of Italian sites that mention the "Premio Agrodolce" of Cesenatico. Apparently, the first prize (of 1963) was split between Fellini actress Sandra Milo and actor Walter Chiari. I think vale is correct and that he (or she) answered the question on the basis of personal knowledge. An "Agro Dolce Prize" WAS given to Fo in 1987, but I'd agree with vale that it's probably not the same prize offered in Cesenatico in the early 60's.
