    		Another take: A flag day refers to a change that is neither forward or backward compatible, requiring all users to change at once. The name refers to the fact that such a change was made to Multics on Flag Day.

    		A flag day in the UK is when charity collectors shake their boxes at you hoping for donations. Sometimes you may get a small paper flag, other times artificial poppies, daffodils, stickers, etc, depending on the particular charity.
