asks:
Why does the German national football team have two polish strikers, Podolski and Klose, are they German but born in Poland? Can one differeniate the appearance of a German and a Pole?

The commentator said one was born in Poland but moved to Germany when 8. Birth is only one consideration, parent's and grandparent's gives you options before you commit to one club and long term residence the other. That means I could play for Poland myself as my grandpa was born there. When my uncle was called up after the war he was asked did he want to join the British or Polish army as technically his two children were half Polish though they'd never been there.
I think that covers the complex area of choosing nationality!
