These two women played integral roles in solving the most important and dramatic problems of their respective fields, which were both solved in the same year. However, at the time, they did not recieve proper credit for the magnitude of their contributions, and in fact never lived to see it. Who were the two women, what was the date, what were their accomplishments, and what does this have to do with a mountain?

I may be way off on this but I'm going to guess one of these is Rosalind Franklin, the crystallographer whose work was crucial to the discovery of the structure of DNA in 1953, the year Tenzing and Hillary climbed Everest (is that where the mountain comes in?) Franklin died of ovarian cancer, quite probably due to her X-ray work, in 1958, four years before Watson and Crick received the Nobel Prize.

You're right on Rosalind Franklin, 1953, and Everest. Who's the other woman?
