If you want to lose weight and keep the weight off, it's not enough to reduce your diet. You'll have to exercise as well. If you're not used to exercise, start by walking for 30 minutes a day, then if you can manage that, gradually increase the time and your speed.
Give up drinking alcohol.
Avoid diet drinks such as Diet Coke and Diet 7up. They have no calories, but they taste as if they do, so your body will become confused. Drink mineral water when you are thirsty, with a little orange juice or apple juice added if you don't like the taste or water.
Eat lots of vegetables every day and reduce the amount of meat you eat.

I've been known to lose 10 pounds of ugly fat in one fell swoop. A protein diet without carbs puts the body into fat burning mode.

I don't necessarily recommend this, but the fastest way to lose weight is to lie in a bath of completely cold water for several hours. The induced shivering burns the fat off like magic.

Do so with your health in mind!!! Drink LOTS of water, get sufficient exercise AND eat well-balanced meals in order to limit caloric intake.
OR:
Gastric bypass surgery.

Drinking lots of water will make you temporarily gain weight. Water weight. You will eat less because you will feel full. Then you will shed the water if you have healthy kidneys.
Remember, when one diets, the first few pounds is water weight leading to the assumption of rapid weight loss. Rapid body mass loss does not happen. Running a Marathon will burn less than a half pound of bodyfat. Lower carbs. (the primary bodily fuel) and you WILL burn stored fat(the bodys secondary fuel) but you MUST have a certain percentage of sugars in the blood to actuallu burn fat. If not enough sugar than the body will burn lean muscle mass. BAD, BAD, BAD.
To lose weight you must cut your overall caloric intake
by a large percentage and you MUST increase the work (exercise) the body does.
Ultra high protein (long term) diets create digestive and kidney problems.

Not eating for an extended period of time will stop the fat burning process and create a fat hoarding situation. The burning of lean muscle mass will also result from starvation. Gastric fusing (intestines fusing together because they digest themselves) is a severe result of starvation. DO NOT DO IT.

If you go on a crash diet, you will lose some muscle and some fat. Your body's need for food will be somewhat lessened, but your appetite will probably not change. So if you come off the diet, you'll be eating more than you need and you will put on the excess as fat. So crash diets tend to make you put on weight.

Exercising and watching what you eat-the classic two was to loose weight. But you really have to set your mind to what your doing. Promise yourself you're going to loose weight. But don't crash diet. Be reasonable.
