According to Billboard magazine's charts for the year 1957, "All Shook Up" by Elvis was number one for eight weeks in a row, commencing April 20th. The Everly Brothers didn't get on the charts with a number one that year until October 21st and stayed there for two weeks. The song was "Wake Up Little Susie."

I'm going to go with 'Bye Bye Love' as I have found it at number two during the same week of your question. I don't think it is much of a leap to say it may have been number one somewhere that same week.
