In Ancient Greece, what was the floral emblem of the city of Athens?
Which city-state was not located in Greece; Athens, Troy, Sparta, or Argos?
Most sources state that athletes from Australia, France, Great Britain, Greece and Switzerland have been to every Olympic games, from 1896 onwards. However, the nation we now know as the Commonwealth of Australia did not exist until 1st January 1901. Prior to that time the Australian continent was comprised of colonies. Edwin Flack was working as an accountant for Price Waterhouse in London at the time, and made his own way across to Athens for the 1896 Games. I've searched high and low for this answer, and end up with nothing more than hearsay and conflicting answers, and nothing definitive. Who or what was Edwin Flack representing at the 1896 Athens Games, and what flag was raised when he won a medal? Ditto, the "Australian athletes" at the 1900 Games?
