Named after an animal bodypart, its accuracy varies between what goes inside it. An Act of Parliament set a standard, but over time it was settled to a certain number for one item and a certain number for another. What is it, what items are commonly put in it, and which Southern US state used it for something else?

I'll go with a hogshead, which varied in quantity by the type of alcoholic beverage (wine, beer, ale, etc) it contained. Also it was used for tobacco shipping, about 1000 pounds/head. Louisiana used it for sugar shipping

Zb, we mustn't flutter too much. Remember, quality, not quantity. ;)

btw, standard measure for liquids listed on the back of those black and white marble composition notebooks lists a hogshead as equal to 2 barrels, which i beleive are listed as 32.5 gallons each
