Over the last five years this has increased 42% with couples wanting this at their wedding?

    Question #67635. Asked by TrinaKilgore.

This is just 42% and not an increase of 42% but I think the answer would still be cash.

Most surveys, the wedding gifts engaged couples most want is cash! But how to request money as a gift can be a real challenge. In fact, a survey cited by the Emily Post Institute reports that nearly half (42%) of engaged couples say that figuring out how to request gifts of money is the “most challenging etiquette issue they face as they plan their weddings.”

They shouldn't bother. It is tacky, tacky, tacky to request anything in particular. Most bridal couples will probably get cash anyway, since that is what everyone seems to want these days, and guests know it, but they cannot specifically ask for it. Zbeck's site offends me: wedding guests are not obligated to pay for the honeymoon or the down-payment on the first house. Asking family and wedding-party members to solicit cash for these things is also tacky.

Unless the bride and groom don't mind looking tacky, in which case a number of their invitees probably won't bother to attend and will merely send a congratulatory card -- while rolling their eyes.

Try not to hold it against me...it is not MINE and I just posted it to support the 42 percent 'thang. Personally? I think the "Happy Married Couple-To-Be" should carry "Rugers" and go for the big bucks.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...
