March 30, 1981 in Washington, D.C.
Press Secretary James Brady was shot and seriously wounded along with a Secret Service agent and Washington, D.C. policeman.
It was outside the Washington Hilton Hotel and he was brought to the George Washington University Hospital where he underwent surgery for 2 hours for a collapsed lung and other damage caused by a .22 bullet going through his ribs. He was released 12 days later.
