    Why and when did we start calling "Independence Day" the "Fourth of July"?

    		In the United States, Independence Day, also called the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday celebrating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.

    		Besides, the 4th of July is specifically an American holiday. "Independence Day" is celebrated by any number of countries, each with its own specific date and sometimes even other names (such as "Liberation Day" or "Revolution Day" or something to that effect).
