The scroll lock key will usually freeze the cursor in a fixed location and cursor control keys will cause the screen to move. Software may vary. The break key goes back to not only keyboarding but basic programming languages (basic, cobol, pascal, etc.) when you ran a program you could stop it by hitting ctrl break. this stopped the program and noted the line of code the program was running. once it became necessary to compile programming language the key kind of became useless.
