    So little kids can say "Mommy, Mommy, look, this looks yummy". It is smart as the little kids are the first to notice it, and thus, influence their parents to buy it for them. Sure, it's not healthy for them, but most parents don't really care.

    the boxes are easier to reach when they're low, so a parent won't break his/her neck trying to reach a box of cereal 10 feet above his/her head. Remember: the sweeter the cereal, the more appealing it is to the kid.
