Thank you gdec. I see, now that I visited the website you so kindly provided, that there is a distinction made between pacers and trotters in the realm of harness racing. Do you, or anybody else, know what the difference is?

In the 'realm' you speak of, the difference could be thus:
"A trotter moves its legs diagonally, right front and left hind, then left front and right hind striking the ground simutaneously. A pacer moves its legs laterally, right front and right hind, then left front and left hind striking the ground simultaneously."
