Actually, I've been seeing this sign, "marder's office". That's why I'm asking the question. Is a marder some kind of clerk or accountant?

The only places I can find with the term "Marder's office" is from doctors with the last name "Marder."

It could be the tank, but it could also be the animal, the tank was named after it. It's the animal family of "Mustelidae", it includes the mink, weasels and martens. And due to my online dictionary English/German marten is the main translation.

But what I found when I used Google, there seems to be a Dr. Marder (and maybe much more with this name) and maybe it was his office you've been seeing? His ancestors could be named after the animal.

The Marder is a component of the coat of arms of Slawonien; also in the coat of arms of Croatia it is contained. Besides this animal is at the same time the name giver for the Croatian currency Kuna (Croatian “kuna” = “Marder”).

Let's see how close I am...Marder Trawling is a seafood company down by So. Water Street right by the "Y." That location is their accounting office and the main office said there is a sign there that says "Marder's Office" or something very similar. Am I in the right vicinity?

It's the name of my friend and a shop in Portsmouth as well, though I knew the tank (visited many model shops) he will be fascinated to hear the other definitions.

Zbeck, are you talking about Marder in New Bedford?

    Well-known in New England:

As brainyblonde visited a Gernam site, I'd better point out that Slawonien is Slovenia in English... Strange looking little beast, isn't it?

Apologies for the anagram of German...
Wasn't there a film (and book) called Marder on the Orient Express?
