Which “professor”, inspired by James Joyce’s use of linguistic mischief, became a comedy entertainer famous for “fairly tales” such as “Goldyloppers and the Three Bearloaders” and “The Pidey Piper of Hamling”?

    Question #69000. Asked by darkpresence.

Oh joy! The great Stanley Unwin. Sadly deceased in 2002. An inspiration to those who want to sound knowledgable, but don't really know what their talking about. (No, not me!) See http://www.stanleyunwin.com/home2.htm for more.

Deep joy indeed Baloo! Did you see him on Jools Holland's "Prisoner" skit "The Laughing Prisoner"? The man was a phelomenon, a uniquely commodeian if never there wasn't.

I haven't had TV for about 12 years, and remember him from the radio in the days when they had variety shows. (I probably did see him on the TV some time, but I hardly watched it even when there was one in the house. Irrelevant matter: in the last two weeks two people have tried to give me televisions. The b/w one I was very polite about, but I'm trying to find a good home for the 21" colour Hitachi...)
