In the US it is calculated by the use of popcorn. It Britain, it is referred to by a certain male name, and in a Scandinavian country it is commonly known as a 'Miss'. What is it, and how did they rectify the problem on New Year's Eve last year?

Time will stand still for a second at midnight, 31 December 05. The move is designed to bring the world's atomic clocks into sync with the Earth's rotation.
You can dial "POPCORN" to set your clock.

Well, yes, denmarks, you have it. I'm guessing you'll be needing an instruction booklet for the Golden Banana, yes? ;)
Anyway, the 'speaking clock' in Sweden is known as "Miss Clock" and the Brits call him "Tim". In the US, you can dial POPCORN, but goodness knows who I'd get on the line if I did that here...

The Speaking Clock on the telephone is no longer called "TIM" (short for TIMe)in the UK. In the days when we had alpha-numeric dials you would literally dial "T.I.M." - in the very early days the operator would tell you the time.
it is of course now automated and has for a number of years been sponsored by Accurist.
