Henry Luce, who had originally been the business manager of the magazine, became editor after the death of Hadden in 1929. The political stance of Time reflected the conservative views of its owner and was a consistent supporter of the Republican Party. The magazine developed a more neutral tone after the death of Luce in 1967. However in the late 1990's it became a more liberal oriented publication. http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/USAtime.htm
