I seem to recall many stories in the news about 30 or so years ago about spontaneous human combustion. Whatever happened to spontaneous human combustion? Why don't we hear about it anymore?

Most cases of spontaneous combustion, on closer examination, turned out to be just normal combustion, as the people concerned were sitting close to fires, smoking pipes or doing other things with fire. People still get burnt up, but it is now reported as death by burning. Aug 05 06, 2:52 PM

Does anyone know of any legitimate scientific and/or medical conditions that could explain spontaneous human combustion? 'Spontaneous Combustion'--fact, theory, or myth? What are the chances that a person might undergo spontaneous combustion, and what increases this chance? I've heard of the Boeing 707, 727, 737, 747, 757, 767 and the newer 777's. Why do we hear so little about the Boeing 717?
