Boys
According to GeoHive.com, a site specializing in population statistics, there are around 3,248,080,000 males on the planet and around 3,214,983,000 females. That translates to men accounting for 50.25% of the population.

I'd always thought that there were more girls than boys.
For purposes of propagation of the species, it makes more sense to have a larger population of females, since they (females) can not reproduce while they are gestating. While males...they're always ready.
Has the worldwide demographic been unnaturally altered by China's 1-baby policy?

This site says that there are quite a few more women than men, tori_12 when you ask for "girls or boys" do you mean just children or adults as well, remember women live much longer than men do:
LONDON - 'What we see in news subjects is that whilst women make up 52 percent of the world's population, they make up only 21 percent of news subjects,' Anna Turley from the World Association for Christian Communication (WACC) told IPS. WACC is a non-governmental organisation that promotes communication for social change.
