Romance languages are those descended from Latin (Roman). The main ones are Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian and Romanian, but there are many others which are spoken by small numbers of people, such as Catalan, Occitane, Romansh, Ladino etc.

Add Aromunian, Friulian, Judezmo, Galician, and Sardinian to Gnomon's list and you have the current ones. Also descended from French, Spanish and Portuguese are Creoles (colonial descendants of the occupying language). Polari is another descendant of the Romance group as well. Dalmatian and Mozarabic are now extinct. Sicilian is regarded by some as a language, but this is disputed.
