In 1956, how much did a pack of cigarettes cost?

Depends on where they were bought, obviously, because of varying tax systems. The table shows historical tax burdens in the USA and current ones abroad. Where I was in '56, I recall they could be had for a dime a pack, but that was because there was no tax.

My Grandpa said they were aroung .12 cents, depending on where you got them. He lived in the midwest and could sometimes purchase them from Indians. Here they would cost around .05-.07 cents.
