Do any of The Doors ever sing lead on their studio albums besides Jim Morrison?

    Question #69878. Asked by Allergic2Life.

    Brainyblonde

Full Circle is the second album The Doors released without Jim Morrison and also their last. The album included the hit single The Mosquito. Keyboardist Ray Manzarek and guitarist Robby Krieger took Morrison's place as lead singer.

True, their last two studio albums were made after Morrison's death.

But on their first 6 when he was still alive?

I'm finding that Jim Morrison is the only one ever listed as lead vocal and no mention of Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger or John Densmore ever taking that role while Morrison was alive. However, that is not to say it didn't happen.

Although Morrison was probably listed as lead vocal through out, good research zbeckabee, another member of the band did sing portions of one song alone.

Can anyone find out who that was and what song he sang portions of?

I'll bet you I'm wrong...BUT, at the end of the song (Touch Me), Ray Manzarek can be heard singing the phrase "stronger than dirt" over the last four notes of the song, a comic reference to the jingle for Ajax laundry detergent.

Ray Manzarek sang a cover of Willie Dixon's "(You Need Meat) Don't Go Further" appearing on the 1972 compilation Weird Scenes Inside The Goldmine.

Yes, you win your bet zbeck "stronger than dirt" was not the answer I was looking for.

And gdec1 "Weird Scenes Inside the Goldmine" was a compilation not a studio album.

I love this great effort though!

Ray Manzarek is featured as a vocalist on the album 'The Soft Parade'.

Haven't got time before leaving for work to sift through which particular song he is accredited to, so I'll leave that to someone else.

peasy, I take my hat off to your detective work.

    But...

Manzarek is not the answer I am looking for (that leaves two).

And for those of you who still care, a good response to peasy's answer is you're getting warmer.

    Congratulations!

In Running Blue on The Soft Parade album Robbie Krieger sings the following lyrics:

All right, look at my shoes
    Not quite the walkin' blues
Don't fight, too much to lose
    Can't fight the runnin' blues

It is a great song to listen to because Krieger's voice sounds so different to Morrison's who sings the rest of the song.

    Does your life still suck?

And give peasy credit for coming up with the right album.

Thank you peasy for coming up with the correct album...and NO...suddenly my life is magically delicious.
