Are there any news that asteroids are going to attack the Earth?

The only thing I'm finding is from 2003 saying we could be hit in 2014. Scientists are warning that an asteroid about 1.2 kilometres wide could hit earth on March 21, 2014 - classifying the situation as "an event meriting careful monitoring". The probability of any of these objects hitting the Earth on these approaches is essentially zero. There are no known NEO's on a collision course with the Earth. It's probably in the links, but although the vast majority of neo's miss by a long way, the vast majority of the very small percentage that head for earth burn up before arrival and only leave small fragments at most of their existence. The chances of a big one both being even close to earth and then hitting it (as it would be too big to totally disintegrate as it passes through the atmosphere) are, as Brainyblonde said, almost zero and tend to be used either to fill in gaps in the TV news or form new religions.
