Roald Amundsen. He was the first person to the South Pole, and many feel he was also the first to the North Pole, since Peary appears to have been either a conman or delusional.

Sir Ranulph Twisleton-Wickham-Fiennes, 3rd Baronet, OBE (usually simply Ranulph Fiennes, born March 7, 1944) is a British explorer and holder of several endurance records. He was the first man to visit both the North and South Poles. [NOTE: WIKE states that these visits were by land.]

For the record: On May 3, 1952 U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Joseph O. Fletcher and Lieutenant William P. Benedict landed a plane at the geographic North Pole. Flying with them was scientist Albert P. Crary.
