Who was the first batsman to be dismissed for 99 runs in a Test match?

The first person to be run out on 99 in a Test match was the Australian Bill Brown, in February 1948 against India at Melbourne.
Since then there have been 12 further instances of a batsman being out one short of a century in that fashion in Test cricket.

Hmmmm - although Bill Brown was the first to be RUN out, the first to be DISMISSED for 99 in a Test match was another Australian, Clem Hill, caught out for 99
in Australia v England test in Melbourne 1901/02 (His other claim to fame was that he died the day after I was born...)
