Why are there "seas" that are actually part of oceans? For example the Yellow Sea is just part of the Pacific Ocean, isn't it?

Technically, all the world's oceans and seas are part of one continuous mass of seawater. But because the ocean is so big, humans have divided it up and named the different parts. There are five oceans and several dozen seas.* Seas are usually smaller than oceans and are partially enclosed by land. But otherwise, they're exactly the same thing.

The Caspian Sea and the Aral Sea are inland seas with no contact with other seas or oceans.

I think I just read the reason for inland seas (not lakes) is they have salt water. That would explain why they were given the name rather than just the large size.
