Question
#71644. TexanPete
asks:
If it is known that, for example, x^3 = 200; is there a way of working out the value of x with just this information?

Yes by using logarithms:
x^3 = 200 taking logs to both sides(base 10)
log x^3 = log 200 using laws of logarithms
3log x = log 200 so
3 log x = 2.3
log x = 2.3 ÷ 3
log x = 0.77 taking antilogs to both sides
x = 5.9 (approx)
Easy really!!

Or just do the cube root of both sides.

Lol that is true - I read it as 3^x in which case logarithms would do of course!
