Are all squares rectangles, or are all rectangles squares? Help me!

To put it into simpler English, all squares are rectangles, but if it's not got four sides the same length it's not a square. A rectangle that isn't a square is an oblong. Oct 20 06, 4:28 PM

Squares and rectangles are quadrilaterals. Meaning that they have 4 sides. Square denotes that the quadrilateral has 4 sides of equal length. Rectangles denotes that each 2 oppposite sides are of equal length. Niether are each other. Oct 22 06, 9:00 AM

Squares are rectangles by that definition - they have each two opposite sides equal. What makes it a square is that both pairs of opposite sides are equal to each other. Still a rectangle. Square and oblong aren't the same, though, even they're both rectangles. In an oblong, the two pairs of opposite sides are not all the same length. Oct 22 06, 9:29 AM
