In the movie Swimming Pool, a writer and her publisher's rather wild daughter share a house together for a time. In the end, she finishes a story and leaves the house, but when she gets to the publishing office, she sees the daughter again, but it's not even the same person. Why is this? And can anyone summarize the story?

The writer, played by Charlotte Rampling, is suffering from a block, and her publisher, played by Charles Dance, offers her his country house in France. When the publisher's daughter (Ludivine Sagnier) shows up, various interesting events ensue, including a death that is concealed.
However, the fact that the final scene in the publisher's office involves a daughter who is clearly not the young woman Rampling's character knew at the house suggests that she imagined her experience there -- that it is the plot of her new novel. As I recall, there are one or two other details that support this conclusion.
