He killed his nephew Perdix, an exceptionally clever boy who instantly provoked Daedalus' envy with his creative and fast inventing of devices such as the saw. Daedalus' sister entrusted him of the care of her son, but in fury he shoved the boy off a tall tower. He knew he had to flee, and he safely escaped to the island of Crete. This is where his adventures with the Labyrinth and the Minotaur and flying to escape prison occurred.
