Yep! Long considered one of the most endangered species in the United States, by 1941 whooping cranes had dropped to a total population of just 21 birds. After intense aerial searches, zoologists found their nesting ground, and by removing eggs to hatch in captivity, they were able to increase the population to 180 birds in the wild and 130 birds in captivity by 1999.
