Correct! John Dillinger attracted national attention for a series of crimes he committed in the midwestern United States over a period of 13 months in 1933 and 1934. He committed his first armed robbery in 1924, and served nine years in prison. While in prison, Dillinger formed a gang, which included "Baby Face" Nelson and "Pretty Boy" Floyd. One of Dillinger's most famous acts was his escape (using a fake gun carved from wood) from the heavily guarded jail in Crown Point, Indiana, where he was awaiting trial for killing a police officer. In 1934 Dillinger moved to Chicago and forced a plastic surgeon to alter his face and fingerprints. In 1934, he was betrayed by his date-turned-informant, and was fatally shot by federal agents as he exited a Chicago movie theater.
