The questions states "late 1960's" and Catherine Zeta Jones was born September 25, 1969. She DID play the part of Mariette Larkin on the television series many years later. In the late 1960's the BBC broadcast the works of H.E. Bates which included this same character. I am unable to find the name of the person who played Mariette Larkin during the late 60's.

I can't find it either. The TV series wasn't made by the BBC, anyway. It was made by Yorkshire Television. The answer, as zbeck and secmgc say, definitely ISN'T Catherine Zeta Jones whoever it might actually be.
