At the time the Declaration of Independence was signed there was no President. The office was established in 1789. However both our second and third Presidents signed; John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. As an added bit of trivia John Adams was the first person to hold the position of Vice President. He served 8 years as VP before being elected President.
