My guess is that this is St. Lucy, who appears in the "Divine Comedy" and is often depicted with her eyes on a plate. (Though there are other forms of iconography for her.) The island nation of St. Lucia is named for her:

Certainly is, and December 13 is her special day, how coincidentally appropriate of me.

This Roman Emperor helped celebrate a major milestone in Roman history and it was documented in many publications including one famous one. What was the milestone, who was the emperor, and which modern day currency is he depicted on?

Possibly over 2,000 years old (though it's been argued that it might be of Renaissance vintage), this elegant item is said to have been found in an emperor's tomb. First mentioned in a letter to a great Flemish painter, it belonged to the early patron of a pugnacious Italian artist, then to the family of an extravagant Pope, and was made famous by a well-known potter. At one point, it ended up in quite a few pieces. What is it, and in the work of what sci fi writer is it mentioned?

Nephew of a Queen's favorite and son-in-law of her spymaster, he dedicated his most famous work to yet another relative, who was a patron of poets. That work influenced a great playwright and a novelist, and is said to have been quoted by a king as he went to his death. Who was this man, and what is the work?
