I suspect that a several writers have said something along these lines. The famous statement "No good deed goes unpunished" has been attributed to, among other others, Clare Boothe Luce and Oscar Wilde, but it seems that the origin is actually unknown:
Faith attempts to not deal with the murder of the Deputy Mayor, and Buffy is strewn down a guilt trip; take some time to reflect on this classic episode.
