I strongly recommend a very useful reference mentioned on zbeck's site, Robert K. Massie's "The Romanovs: The Final Chapter" (New York: Random House), 1995. (Massie is also the author of "Nicholas and Alexandra.") It details both the murders and the DNA tests that refuted Anna Anderson's claims to be Anastasia.
