What did Henry David Thoreu use to call Edgar Allen Poe?

    Question #73801. Asked by star_gazer. (Dec 27 06 12:34 PM)

I've no idea what Thoreau called Poe, but Ralph Waldo Emerson, another Transcendentalist, seems to have called him "The Jingle Man," owing to his propensity for rhyme:

    "The Jingle Man" is correct.

And yes it was Emerson not Thoreau, I got the two confused.

Not the phone, or email. Probably just his voice then.

Master of the macabre, Edgar Allen Poe, has just been on the phone. (I know he's dead, but masters of the macabre can do these sort of things.) York, alias Burley Grove, the Highwayman, Being His Death-bed Confession to the Warden of the Massachusetts State Prison" and "A True and Perfect Relation of the Whole Proceedings Against the Late Most Barbarous Traitors, Garnet A. Jesuit and His Confederates." Why would he want these books?
