    Who occupied Singapore before the British?

    the malays + some chinese I reckon. cause when the raffles came by and notice the ppl living there , *around 200* raffles talked to the village chef, which is a malay.

    It was an important Malay city in the 13th century, but was destroyed by the Javanese in the 14th century and remained a ruin until refounded by Sir Thomas Raffles in 1819 for the East India Company.
