William 'Dixie' Dean scored 60 goals in the 1927-28 season (for Everton) although this will be in all competitions. Henry's best is 30 in a 38 game premier league season, while both Andy Cole and Alan Shearer have scored 34 goals in a 42 game seaon (pre 95-96 when the league had 22 rather than 20 teams). Before the premier league many players scored more goals than this in a league season.
