    I need the slang term for a US Union Soldier; could it be blue coats, blue belly, grey coats, or does anyone know a better one?

    The grey coats were worn by the Confederates. I presume the USA adopted blue because the Brits used red. The grey would be more practical, in fact, and harder to see most of the time.
